Project Engineer

The opportunity A leading self-performing civil contractor is looking for a high-performing Project Engineer to take significant ownership across its live metro Brisbane infrastructure works. This is a pivotal appointment — you’ll step in at pace, operate with genuine autonomy, and drive continuity through a key delivery phase.

It’s not a PM title — it’s a role for a Project Engineer who’s ready to operate a level above, back themselves, and lead from the front.

What you’ll own :

• Program management — three-week lookaheads, resource and procurement planning, and weekly progress tracking against the contractual program
• Commercial delivery — cost-to-complete, procurement, variations, progress claims and buying gains
• Client relationships — managing client expectations, site meetings and reporting, and protecting the contractor’s position for repeat work
• Safety, quality and compliance — audits, risk registers, ITPs, NCRs and active leadership on high-risk activities onsite
• Delivery outcomes — keeping the project on track across time, cost and quality

About you Essential:

• Proven Project Engineer experience on bulk earthworks, basement and excavation projects
• Strong commercial acumen across cost, procurement and program
• A confident communicator who can manage stakeholders and own client relationships
• Someone who hits the ground running and thrives in a fast-paced delivery environment
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and a current Queensland driver’s licence

Well regarded:

• Adjacent earthworks and excavation skills — shoring and retention systems, dewatering, bulk cut-to-fill and haulage management, demolition
• Familiarity with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) specifications and South East Queensland civil delivery
