About the Company We are working with a respected construction and infrastructure consultancy, to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Victorian team.
This role suits a Senior QS who wants autonomy, project ownership, and exposure to a diverse pipeline of work across roads, rail, marine, utilities, buildings, and energy projects.
You’ll play a lead role in the commercial and financial management of projects, working closely with Project Managers and Commercial Managers across the full lifecycle, from procurement through to final accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive cost management services from feasibility to project delivery.
- Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates, supporting the development of budgets for projects.
- Perform risk and value management, including cost variance analysis and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct cost assessments, benchmarking, and market analysis to drive value.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to monitor costs, review forecasts, and control expenditure.
- Manage procurement strategies and oversee contractor negotiation and tendering processes.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts to present to stakeholders and project managers.
- Conduct post-contract cost control, including reviewing and certifying variations, progress payments, and final accounts.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Lead cost assurance and audit processes to maintain project financial health.
- Support the identification and implementation of cost-saving opportunities and innovations.
Key Requirements
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of cost management experience in infrastructure or construction projects, ideally in large-scale infrastructure (rail, roads, utilities, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of cost planning, risk management, and value engineering within major infrastructure projects.
- Experience in procurement, tendering, and negotiation processes.
- Proficiency in cost management software and tools (e.g., CostX, Primavera, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of contractual, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
- Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, AIQS) is highly desirable.
